A MAN from Romford has been fined more than £4,000 and sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work for stealing more than £4,000 worth of diesel from his employer.

Vasile Vinatoru, 37, was ordered to pay £4,375 pounds at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today after being found guilty of stealing £4,260 worth of diesel from Lopa Removals Ltd, his employer.

The court heard how Vinatoru used the fuel card he was entrusted with by his employer to steal diesel.

CCTV showed the defendant filling up his car during one of the fraudulent transactions.

Vinatoru was ‘ashamed’ of his actions, with his defence citing his struggles to pay rent and met the basic cost of living in mitigation.
